A peek inside my wardrobe…

Cream bikini and turquoise water

I spend the day going from warm sand to turquoise water, which calls me back every five minutes. My satin cream bikini barely gets a chance to dry before I head in again, bracelets jingling as I go. There is salt on my lips and sand in every corner of my bag. I think the journey home can wait a little longer.

His terrible joke still has me laughing.

My hair and I are negotiating a truce.
Lena standing at an angle in a cream bikini beside the turquoise sea, looking down with one hand near the hip tie.
I keep losing count of the waves.
Lena seen from behind in turquoise seawater, wearing a cream tie bikini, hands in her ponytail and face turned sideways.
Even my hair tie tastes of salt.

I am taking my time before another dip.

I always pick the seat with the splashes.

I let the next wave time my break.
Lena walking barefoot across wet sand in a cream string bikini, arms at her sides, with the turquoise sea behind her.
I am off for ice cream, unless I swim again.

I feel the sand slipping away underneath me.

I plan five minutes and stay an hour.

I double-check the knot before my big splash.

I turn the rest of the world down.
Lena walking out of the turquoise sea in a cream bikini, wet hair loose, arms at her sides and gaze lowered.
I promise my towel I will come back.

I am saving some sand for the ride home.

I dry in three minutes, except for my hair.
Lena walking toward the camera through turquoise seawater in a cream string bikini, with loose hair and gold bracelets on her wrists.
I only come back to ask for five more minutes.

I breathe in and forget where my sandals are.

I put off leaving until the very last wave.
