A peek inside my wardrobe…

Red shorts and lace top, a yoga session

I had promised myself I would start again. An empty room, a mat, the light from the window, and nobody around to watch me get it wrong. I dug out my old red gym shorts with the white stripes and went back to the beginning: bound angle, downward dog, child's pose. Barefoot, of course — it is the one discipline that makes me take my shoes off, and maybe that is why I keep coming back to it.

Lena sitting on a yoga mat in bound angle pose, red gym shorts and white lace bralette, bare feet with black polish
Starting again from the beginning.
Lena in downward facing dog seen from behind, her bare soles facing the camera
Downward dog, and the whole world upside down with it.
Lena on all fours on her yoga mat, back hollowed, in the cat-cow stretch
Cat, cow, cat, cow. That's where my back wakes up.
Lena in child's pose on her mat, folded forward, soles turned up towards the ceiling
Child's pose, the one I always stay in far too long.
Lena lying on her back on the mat, knees bent, holding both bare feet in her hands
This one has a ridiculous name and feels wonderful.
Lena sitting in a full side split on her yoga mat, legs straight, bare feet with black polish
It took me two years to get all the way down.
Lena seated with her legs opened wide on the mat, torso upright, bare feet resting on the floor
Legs open, back straight, and breathe.
Lena lying on her back on the mat, knees bent and open, bare feet in the foreground
End of the session, letting everything go.
Lena lying on her yoga mat, knees drawn in to her chest, bare feet with black polish
Thirty seconds like this and my back says thank you.
Lena lying on her side on the mat, legs folded, bare feet raised, looking at the camera
I think I'm done. Or not.
